International Youth Day 2023

At ENWCML, we want to inspire the next generation.

On Saturday 12th August 2023, it’s International Youth Day with the theme, ‘green skills for the youth, towards a sustainable world’.

Each year, we offer apprenticeships and work placements for those who want to experience and learn.

There is a current shortage of work placements across the country so we are proud to be playing our part and would love to do more to support the community.

Henry joined us for a student work placement, read more about his experience below:

“I really enjoyed my time at Electricity North West as I got the opportunity to learn more about how electricity works, how it is managed and also the business itself. Some of the highlights of my time there was visiting the Etihad Stadium. I really enjoyed this as I got to learn about the substation, what it does and the things it powers. I had a great day meeting the jointers and fitters so I could see how new connections are made.

I also helped take some ground resistivity measurements and gained an understanding of why Earthing is so important for safety.

Overall I really enjoyed my short visit and hope to do something similar in the future.“
