Meet our team member, Charles Hesketh, Market Strategy Manager at ENWCML.
As we all move towards a low-carbon future it’s important that there is support available to facilitate this transition. ENWCML are uniquely positioned to offer support in the design, construction and operation of traditional electricity distribution assets at the same time as offering the same service for low-carbon technology and services. As a Market Strategy Manager, it’s their responsibility to identify these opportunities and to deliver clear pathways to enter them by building strategic relationships and partnerships.
We asked Charles some questions about his background and a typical day in the life of a Market Strategy Manager:
Name: Charles Hesketh
Position: Market Strategy Manager
What is your role at ENWCML?:
To identify new markets for the business to operate in where we previously have not.
What is your past experience/background?
I have worked within the renewable sector for the last 10 years and been involved in developing over 300MW of distributed energy projects for several institutional investors and partners.
What do you enjoy about the work you do?
Being given the flexibility to research and review new sectors of the energy market ensures that no two days are the same. Researching, developing and delivering new strategies for the business is very fulfilling, enabling the business to be well positioned for the future.
Is there anything that the industry must deal with that you can help to fix?:
The UK energy system is going through a paradigm shift in the way it creates and distributes energy, the incorporation of institutions such as the National Grid ESO have been designed to assist the shift towards a more renewable mix of energy on our grid. The work I undertake for ENWCML is focused on finding ways we can deliver the work needed to aid this. The incorporation of ENWCML Energy as a brand shows how focused we are on delivering the projects needed to ensure a Net Carbon Zero future.
Any previous work achievements which you are proud of?
I am proud that the business relationships that I have forged over the last 10 years still contribute to the projects I work on today for ENWCML. Being able work with some of the best people in the industry is incredibly exciting for me.
Delivering projects for large corporations where you can evidence commercial savings along with carbon reductions is always fulfilling. Being able to tackle both issues via a strategically planned, vertically integrated approach is satisfying and keeps me looking for future opportunities.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have a young family which keeps me very busy, I also am a keen sportsman and still play football, golf, tennis when I am able to.
When I am not playing, I will be watching sport and follow Manchester United.
